Busy week this week as I returned to work after maternity leave. Time will be even more precious now and I’ll be in need of a creative outlet at the weekend. Last weeks family picnic was a bit on the chilly side but this weekend promises more.
Free the West End
I do love the theatre but wouldn’t really call myself an avid theatre goer anymore. The main pre-baby barrier was the cost of big West End shows. If you feel the same, why not visit Trafalgar Square on Saturday or Sunday when a host of the top shows will be putting on a musical extravaganza, West End Live? This is your chance to see some musical hits without the financial hit. This is a free event so make sure you get there early!
West End Live, Saturday and Sunday, 11am/12am-6pm, Trafalgar Square
A Knight’s Tale
I thought the film A Knight’s Tale made Medieval times look pretty cool… Just me? Why not head to Eltham Palace and Gardens to find out for yourself? This weekend they are hosting a Grand Medieval Joust. There will be an encampment, music, games and even a jester to entertain people of all ages. Get a taste of what it was really like to live 600 years ago.
Grand Medieval Joust, Saturday and Sunday, 10-5pm, Eltham Palace and Gardens.
Animals and market stalls, count me in?
Spitalfields City Farm have launched their Sunday Summer Market season. Pop along on Sundays until September and you not only see the lovely animals, but there will be market stalls selling local fruit and veg, traditional crafts and hand made goods. Entertainment will be in the form of live folk music and donkey rides. What’s not to love?
