“The worlds favorite season is the spring,
All things seem possible in May.“ Edwin Way Teale
May is a month with two Bank Holiday weekends, what more do we need to say? The forecast may be dreary but make the most of these extra days off work and plan to do something different this weekend.
Morris Dancers? Down south? The Canalway Cavalcade is a community festival run by The Inland Waterways Association and Little Venice. This is a family friendly event, including Morris Dancing, entertainers and workshops. There is also a real ale bar for the grown ups, and it’s all free. Let’s hope the sun shines on Little Venice this weekend.

Fringe benefits
Wandsworth Arts Festival and Fringe kicks off this weekend. The festival itself is a showcase for the various arts professionals working in and inspired by the borough. The Fringe is a new addition and focuses on inclusion and participation of the local community. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved or sit back and watch the local talent taking to the stage.

Lewisham is one of only two boroughs in London that doesn’t have its own cinema. Freefilmfestivals.org aims to bring cinema to areas that don’t have easy access to films, bringing the local community together, and it’s free too. There are seven films showing this weekend, including Grease and the Owl and the Pussycat.
