Jumble

box of tissuesYou may think I’ve been too busy enjoying Artisan London to post over the last couple of weeks but the truth is a lot more mundane. A poorly buba (yes, again) wipes out the weekends and most of the week, and the lurgy has just moved onto the adults just in time for this weekend.

If I wasn’t nursing the lemsip I’d be off enjoying these things:

Jumble and Pearls Christmas Pop-Up

Vintage toy on a market stallIs it actually a pop-up if it is a regular, organised event? Who knows. The Jumble and Pearls event introduces new designers and showcases vintage, collectables and affordable art. All this with a background of Soul, Funk and Blues with a DJ set from Wicked Lady. It runs from 12 – 6pm on Saturday and entry is free.

Nice Ice

ice skateThe Somerset House ice rink is now officially open. With the climate as it is, it may be a while before the Thames freezes over so best get your skates on and head to Somerset House. Or one of the many temporary (I won’t say pop-up), ice rinks across London. Somerset House offers skating lessons, Polar Bear Club, Apres-skate and club nights with activities both on and off the ice.

 Mini Maker Faire

test tubesDescribed as a day of ‘Family friendly making, learning, crafting, inventing and tinkering in the heart of London’, The Elephant and Castle Mini Maker Faire sounds exactly how I’d like to spend my weekend!

This event brings together arts, crafts, engineering, science and technology. Makers from the different industries will be showing what they are working on and sharing what they are learning. There will be lots of talks, demonstrations and workshops with plenty of opportunities to get involved.
